Steve
Steve Labofish is a self taught artist of many mediums hailing from Silver Spring, MD. In his youth, Steve was surrounded by many artistic family members and he enjoyed drawing, building and painting models, and customizing his bicycles. After finishing high school, Steve planned to pursue a degree in criminal justice, but when Steve discovered tattoo art he found his true calling in life.
Steve began tattooing in 1996 and by 1997 was tattooing professionally at Fatty's Custom Tattooz in Silver Spring. There he met many people that influenced him as a tattoo artist including his future wife and fellow tattooist, Hansi Jessup. He also met Danielle Oberosler for whom he credits for helping him to hone his technical tattooing skills.
In 1999, Steve traveled south to Winston Salem, NC where he worked at Inkwell tattoo studio for the summer. Upon his return to the MD area, Steve landed a job at Dragon Moon tattoo studio. There Steve spent the next 5 years continuing to expand and improve on his tattooing and artistic abilities.
Steve has now come full circle, returning to Fatty's Custom Tattooz in 2004. Being at Fatty's allows Steve to work with a crew that inspires and motivates each other in an upbeat, fun atmosphere. He enjoys creating custom designs for his clients or any thing that requires imagination and style.
Besides tattooing, Steve also enjoys snowboarding, mountain biking, movies, and martial arts. He also stays busy with Redline, his custom airbrushing and pinstriping company painting every thing from motorcycles to toilet seats.
